Review: Beautycounter Countermatch Collection

TGIF friends!!!
I hope you all had a great week!
Today’s post is a collab with Beautycounter consultant, Megan Rodgers! She gave me the opportunity to test out Beautycounter’s Countermatch Collection. Beautycounter’s mission is to strive on using healthier and safer ingredients in their skincare and beauty products.
I tested out the Countermatch Collection for almost a month. My review on the collection and details about a GIVEAWAY are below!

Countermatch Intense Moisture Serum
Thoughts:  I LOVED this serum!!! The serum really helped hydrate my skin! I’ll admit,  I was a bit skeptical using this serum, because I’ve had bad experiences with serums in the past. I would get blotchy skin, breakouts and the size of my pores doubled!! The serum’s main ingredient includes two forms of Hyaluronic Acid, which moisturizes your skin without clogging your pores.

Countermatch Eye Rescue Cream
Thoughts: The eye cream is great if you have dry under eyes and puffiness. I also noticed it helped maintain my under eye concealer throughout the day. If you are searching for a cream to cool down any puffiness and hydrate your under eyes, this is a must get!  NOTE: Due to my crappy sleep schedule, my under eye dark circles have become my new BFF. Unfortunately, I did not notice a change in my dark circles using this eye cream.snapseed-9
Countermatch Adaptive Moisture Lotion
Thoughts: If you are looking for a moisturizer that will give you a glow with and without makeup, this is it! I used the lotion every day before applying makeup. I also, wore it alone on my makeup free days. The lotion is not greasy, and it gives you an all day glow! I was very impressed with the amount of radiance this product provided!
Countermatch Recovery Sleeping Cream
Thoughts: The sleeping cream felt like a moisturizing sleeping mask. It hydrated my skin throughout the evening and soften my skin. NOTE: When using this cream, make sure you get the neck too! I noticed more smoothness on my neck after usage.

Life Update
My life has been a bit busier than usual. I’ve been helping my parents with the opening of their new business, a tea room! My mom AKA the boss lady, was the brains behind the new venture. If you’re looking for a place with great tea and an endless amount of pastries, come to Bella’s Tea Room! We had the preview party and grand opening last weekend, it was a great turn out! It was wonderful to be in the same room with so many family and friends, I also met some blog followers (heeyyy!). The site for Bella’s Tea Room will be up soon, you can find them on Facebook and Instagram.
Vacation… My boyfriend and I are going to M E X I C O!!!! It’s a quick vacay, but nonetheless it gets me away from real world for a few days. We will be in Playa del Carmen in April. It will be our first time visiting, so if you have any recommendations, leave a comment below.
Enjoy the rest of your week!

2018 Valentine/Galentine Guide

Hey there Baltimore Belle fam and friends!
Valentine’s Day, aka Single Awareness Day and Wasting Money Day is in four days- Ugh!
I’m kidding…sorta.
I’m on the fence about Valentine’s Day.  I wouldn’t turn down a day to make my boyfriend feel special or loved, but I’m also not going to spend a ridiculous amount of money on a made up holiday. Nonetheless, Kevin and I will celebrate it in our own way. This year, I made a very simple request for Valentine’s Day, Chick-fil-A! I loveeee me some CFA!

I made a guide, if you’re still in the search for gift or date ideas for your significant other or Galentine. I found great gifts for UNDER $50, a list of Vday/Galentine’s Day events and I included two of my favorite eating spots!

Women’s/Galentine’s Gift Ideas

Gifts ideas for yourself, side pieces (kidding!), or anyone else

Note: Some gifts are over $50

Favorite Eats

  • Diablo Doughnuts in Fells Point is my all time favorite spot for a sugar high! Gourmet doughnuts would make the perfect gift for the foodie in your life. Diablo Doughnuts are currently running a Valentine’s Day special. You can pre-order and pre-pay your Valentine’s day order, of six doughnuts for $16! Their doughnuts are HUGE and very filling, it takes me forever to just finish one, so take advantage of this deal!

  • The Elephant in Mt. Vernon, formerly the Brass Elephant has everything; history, a fun atmosphere, impeccable food, amazing drinks, knowledgeable staff and some nights they have live music! The restaurant has a casual and elegant ambiance, without that snobby-ish vibe you may get at other fine dining restaurants. The interior decor is one of my favorite things about The Elephant. The stained glass in the building is made of Tiffany, yes THAT Tiffany! Every time I visit, I always learn something new about the place. The restaurant is filled with so much history, it was originally a mansion in the 1850’s and a furniture store. They offer various foods, such as seafood, chicken, and meats. If you like trying new things, give their drink menu a try. Their selection is a mix of the usual and their signature drinks will soon become your favorite! My current favorites are the Tiffany martini and the Lockwood. One last thing I must mention, their staff is professional, friendly and filled with so much knowledge. I don’t know if a history exam is part of the application process, but the amount of history and detail of every aspect of the establishment is impressive! Whenever Kevin and I stop by, we eat and drink at the bar and our usual bartender is Chris. Chris always gives us the full experience. Watching Chris make drinks, is like watching a tv show. Chris will explain what he puts in each drink step-by-step, spit out random facts about the restaurant and shares a corny joke or two, which are so corny, there’s no way you can not laugh at them. If you are looking for a fun place to enjoy with your Valentine of Galentine, make a stop at The Elephant!

This blog post was once again, way longer than I expected. I hope you found this guide helpful and enjoy your Valentine’s/Galentine’s or Anti-Valentine’s day anyway you choose to celebrate it!

Xoxo,

Mia

A special message for you & my spring wish list

First things first…

Many, many thanks to everyone that read my blog post last week! I received such a great response, and read so many of your sweet and encouraging messages!

Now, that I have opened up to all of you, I’ve become a bit more comfortable about posting online. This may sound so small and stupid, but over the weekend, I decided on a whim to post a video of my beauty haul on IG stories. I HATE my voice, but I didn’t let it stop me, and you all gave me great feedback on it! I had fun doing it and I’m looking forward to making more videos. Thank you again for supporting me! Sending you all virtual hugs!

Trend to Try: The Kimono

Kimonos have been pretty popular the past few years and this year, kimonos are making bigger statements with their versatile styles. They are so easy to style and make the perfect statement piece. Lately, whenever the weather gods want to give Baltimore a temperature above 50, I like to bring out my favorite kimono from Anthropologie. * If you remember, this kimono is from my Anthropologie Fitting Session. I was able to snag this on clearance, last month!

My kimono is sold out, but I found a very similar one from Forever 21 here.

If you’re in the search of a good kimono, I found a few great ones below!

Screw Phil!

We all know that stupid rodent, Punxsutawney Phil predicted six more weeks of winter.  I don’t know about you, but Phil does not exist to me. I’m sick of winter and moving forward into spring- mentally at least! To get me in the spring mode, I put together a small spring wish list.

Let’s hope, Phil is wrong and spring arrives sooner rather than later! Enjoy the rest of your week and thank you for taking the time to read my post!

My blogging experience so far

Hi Beautiful People!

You’re probably wondering who that girl is in the pic below, It’s me! I finally made my way in front of the camera over the weekend. I shot four looks, that I will be sharing on the blog in the coming weeks.
 img_5140
A bit of a confession….
I almost backed out of last weekend’s shoot. Lately, I have been contemplating on ending the blog all together. Blogging is hard and it can get very frustrating! I’m trying to gain more followers, weeding out fake business offers, reading rejection after rejection emails, dealing with people making fun of my blog. Also, I have a horrible habit of comparing my looks with other bloggers. Might I also add, I have a full-time job covering local news in Baltimore. I feel like, I have zero time to focus on anything. Thinking of all the negative experiences I’ve had so far, I felt sad and doubted myself.  I thought, I looked like an idiot for even putting myself out there and wondered if my blog would ever become successful one day. But then, my Mama and sister, Marilyn came to the rescue! These two women are my dream team, they brought me back to reality, helped me view things in a positive light and reminded me to enjoy the moments. Which is what I hope to do with this blog! I’ve decided to give this blog another go, with a different mentally. Embracing and enjoying my individuality and of course celebrating my love for fashion!
Sorry for the Iyanla Vanzant one-on-one here, I originally planned on just sharing my favorite accessories. But here we are, now you know a little more about me.
One more thing, I have had experienced positives in blogging. For those looking into blogging, please don’t let my experiences deter you! I’ve met wonderful and SUPPORTIVE bloggers, and been featured on brand’s sites and social media pages. My favorite thing about blogging has been interacting with all of you!
Back to your regularly scheduled programming…
The pics below were taken at the American Visionary Arts Museum. If you’re looking for some odd (I mean that in a good way!) and unique art pieces, this is the place to go to! You can read more about the museum here.

I’m sick of winter and have already begun shopping for spring! One of my first spring purchases were these Sam Edelman pumps. They were originally $130 and now are marked down to $58!

In case you are having the winter blues, I made a round-up of my favorite shoes that you can wear this spring and all year around. Yes, I went with a color scheme, hence the blog title.

The majority of the shoes, listed below are under $100.

Enjoy the rest of your week and cheers to spring getting here sooner!
