2018 Valentine/Galentine Guide

Hey there Baltimore Belle fam and friends!
Valentine’s Day, aka Single Awareness Day and Wasting Money Day is in four days- Ugh!
I’m kidding…sorta.
I’m on the fence about Valentine’s Day.  I wouldn’t turn down a day to make my boyfriend feel special or loved, but I’m also not going to spend a ridiculous amount of money on a made up holiday. Nonetheless, Kevin and I will celebrate it in our own way. This year, I made a very simple request for Valentine’s Day, Chick-fil-A! I loveeee me some CFA!

I made a guide, if you’re still in the search for gift or date ideas for your significant other or Galentine. I found great gifts for UNDER $50, a list of Vday/Galentine’s Day events and I included two of my favorite eating spots!

Women’s/Galentine’s Gift Ideas

Gifts ideas for yourself, side pieces (kidding!), or anyone else

Note: Some gifts are over $50

Favorite Eats

  • Diablo Doughnuts in Fells Point is my all time favorite spot for a sugar high! Gourmet doughnuts would make the perfect gift for the foodie in your life. Diablo Doughnuts are currently running a Valentine’s Day special. You can pre-order and pre-pay your Valentine’s day order, of six doughnuts for $16! Their doughnuts are HUGE and very filling, it takes me forever to just finish one, so take advantage of this deal!

  • The Elephant in Mt. Vernon, formerly the Brass Elephant has everything; history, a fun atmosphere, impeccable food, amazing drinks, knowledgeable staff and some nights they have live music! The restaurant has a casual and elegant ambiance, without that snobby-ish vibe you may get at other fine dining restaurants. The interior decor is one of my favorite things about The Elephant. The stained glass in the building is made of Tiffany, yes THAT Tiffany! Every time I visit, I always learn something new about the place. The restaurant is filled with so much history, it was originally a mansion in the 1850’s and a furniture store. They offer various foods, such as seafood, chicken, and meats. If you like trying new things, give their drink menu a try. Their selection is a mix of the usual and their signature drinks will soon become your favorite! My current favorites are the Tiffany martini and the Lockwood. One last thing I must mention, their staff is professional, friendly and filled with so much knowledge. I don’t know if a history exam is part of the application process, but the amount of history and detail of every aspect of the establishment is impressive! Whenever Kevin and I stop by, we eat and drink at the bar and our usual bartender is Chris. Chris always gives us the full experience. Watching Chris make drinks, is like watching a tv show. Chris will explain what he puts in each drink step-by-step, spit out random facts about the restaurant and shares a corny joke or two, which are so corny, there’s no way you can not laugh at them. If you are looking for a fun place to enjoy with your Valentine of Galentine, make a stop at The Elephant!

This blog post was once again, way longer than I expected. I hope you found this guide helpful and enjoy your Valentine’s/Galentine’s or Anti-Valentine’s day anyway you choose to celebrate it!

Women’s Gift Guide 2017

Hallelujah its Friday!!

It’s been a very, VERY busy news week! My brain actually hurts!
I’m looking forward to staying in and finally binge watching, season two of Stranger Things! I may or may not be a basic blogger and stop by the Farmers’ Market. Check out my Instagram to see if I go!
Christmas shopping is upon us, but do not fret, Baltimore Belle is here to help!
For the next coming weeks, I will be sharing several gift guides. This week we begin, with the ladies! I made a list of gift ideas for the foodie, tech lover, beauty lover, etc.
I’ve added low price alternatives under most of the items and a few reviews of the items I own myself. I hope you find this gift guide helpful!

Have a great weekend!

Berger Cookie Trifle

Thanks to all my followers who voted on my IG stories last week! You voted for me to share a recipe on today’s blog!

I will be sharing my Berger Cookie recipe.
  •  Cool Whip
  •  1 box of Berger Cookies
  • Chocolate pudding mix
  • Cake Mix (any flavor of your choosing)
  • Thaw out the Cool Whip in the fridge for 3 or 4 hours
  • Bake the cake according to box directions, set aside to cool. The size of the baking pan for your cake does not matter, the bigger the pan, the bigger the trifle!
  • Mix pudding according to directions and set aside.
  • Break the Berger Cookies into small pieces.
  • Cut the cake into small squares. About the size of a mini brownie.
  • Grab a large layering dish and start layering!
  • Begin layering, start with the cake as your base, add cool whip, pudding and Berger Cookie pieces. Repeat the process until the entire bowl is filled.
  • Place the trifle in the fridge for 4-6 hours before serving and enjoy the sugar rush!!
I loved hearing your input on what you’d like to see on the blog, expect more voting on my IG soon!
Have a great weekend!

TRAVEL DIARY: Food and Fashion in Brooklyn

Welcome to my travel diary!!

Last weekend, I went to Brooklyn to visit my sister and we went to the holy land of all foods known to man!

This food heaven is called the Dekalb Food Market, located in downtown Brooklyn. The market includes 40 vendors in a 60,000 square foot hall.
I was overwhelmed when I walked in, but thank goodness my sister and I decided on a plan. We are serious foodies and wanted to try a little bit of everything. Our plan was to split one entrée or dessert from a few vendors.
Our first stop was Hard Times Sundaes. We ordered the double cheeseburger. It’s not too greasy, and the cheese is beautifully melted to the meat but not too melted, that it would fall off the burger. What I also loved about their burgers, is that they use buttery potato bread for their buns (yum!). TAKE ALL MY MONEY, HARD TIMES SUNDAES!!! You win the burger game!
We had our burger with a side fries from Home Frite. My favorite sauce is the curry ketchup!
P.S. This Home Frite location serves rose’!
Our next stop was Bunsmith. I was a little intimidated because everything on the menu sounded very spicy or was something I normally would not order. We really wanted to try it out and ordered the Korean Fried Chicken. I’m a wimp when it comes to spicy foods, so I think my drink from Craft and Carry helped me out a bit, but nonetheless I would order again.
My boyfriend got me into jerk chicken. So I was pretty excited when I spotted Linkkle More.  We ordered the classic jerk chicken with a side of rice. The portions are large, and the jerk chicken was S P I C Y!  I was a bit disappointed that our order was mainly bones. Maybe I received a bad batch, but I will give them another shot next time.
This place is a S U G A R paradise!! They have donuts, churros and several sweets on display. We ordered the mini stuffed churros filled with Nutella and Dulce de Leche. I’ll let you drool at my pics. Dulcinea NYC is a must stop for dessert!
I was incredibly stuffed at this point. But I could not turn down a cake pop. The pops are several layers of cake, icing (the vanilla icing was amazing!) and your pick of cereal or candy toppings!
Besides eating like the world is going to end, my sister helped me out with a photo shoot the following day. NOTE TO SELF: Don’t plan a photo shoot after eating enough for a family of five!
I originally planned to shoot four outfits. But, I was so stuffed and not feeling like my usual sassy self. I decided on two looks instead.
Thanks to Zara, I finally found the perfect pair of black jeans, which I call BBA (Big Booty Approved). The jeans are stretchy and won’t slide down on you throughout the day. They stay in place and perfectly hug your curves.
These over the knee boots from DSW are my favorite, they’re light weight and are so easy to walk in. I bought these last year and they’re still in pretty good shape.
I hope you enjoyed my fashion and food post! Have a great Friday!!
